The Trade Board, headed by a Trade Administrator, is Jamaica’s certifying authority for goods exported under the

Products which require an export license:
- Scrap Metal (Incl. Scrap Batteries)
- Scrap Gold/Silver
- Coffee and Pimento
- Live animals
- Endangered Species
- Brown sugar
- Petroleum Oils
- Ammunition (explosives and firearms)
- Eggs (N.O.P.)
- Antique furniture
- Ores Minerals and metals including Bauxite, Alumina and Gypsum
- Paintings (antique)
- Plasma in any form
- Wood Lignum vitae and log wood only
- Motor Vehicles
- Jewellery (Excluding those from earth metals)
- Shells (subject to Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species administered by NEPA)
Export Licenses
There are two types of export licenses:
- Open Export Permits are valid for three (3) months to one (1) year and issued to exporters ofOres, Sugar and Petroleum
Products - General Export Permits are issued for the remaining items and valid for three (3) months onlyexcept for scrap metal that is
valid for only one (1) month.
